Family Pumpkin Carving and treats for school!

Last night we carved our family pumpkin.
We chose to carve "Daddy's airpane" as Little Sis calls it.
She had fun reaching into the pumpkin and touching the yucky seeds.

sketching the outline

all done!
{My Military friends will get a kick out of this picture, anyone
notice the packing sticker Little Sis has on her shirt?  She picked it
off something  in our house and I didn't notice it until just now! LOL}
Our three girls and our pumpkins, out of three
shots this was the best one, it's not easy getting
a two and a half year old to smile for the camera ;)

HC-144 "Casa" airplane and girly pumpkin, notice the bow?

These were little treat bags for teacher's today at school.
I used Happy Home Fairy's free cute printables, hand sanitizer from
Bath and Body Works, and threw in some chocolate goodies too!

These chocolate mummy pretzels are for a class treat.
I used My Computer is my Canvas's labels that I won earlier in the month!
I love her printables, they are the cutest, check out her blog and etsy store!  :)

Oh and because our evening wasn't busy enough with pumpkin carving, treat prep and other fun stuff....Middle Sis thought it would a good idea to swallow a glass gem.  It's the size of a marble!  I was really shocked that she did this, thinking we were past this stage but she continues to keep me on my toes!
We spent two and a half hours in the ER last night getting her x-rays to make sure it wasn't stuck anywhere.  Thankful it wasn't and now the fun begins....checking her poop for the next few days to make sure it comes out!!!!!

Hurricane Sandy and the Boat Show

Last week ended with a little rain and some wind thanks to Hurricane Sandy.
We were very lucky to have it stay out to sea and only get a little of the outerbands.  I count my blessings because my husband had flight duty Friday night and if he had to be launched on a flight in worse weather, I would have been really nervous.
I lift him up in prayer every day, so thankful for a God who hears my prayers!
The wind and rain was gone by Saturday morning, leaving us a very nice weekend!
There was a big boat show locally and my husband LOVES boats.  He grew up working on and spending his weekends on speed boats with his family.  I often am told the story of how the weekend after he was born, was spent on the boat.  I guess it's just part of who he is!
He would LOVE to own a boat someday.  This day was totally a "Daddy day" but the girls and I love doing things that make him happy so off we went to check some boats out.

 {FORMULA}

Some CRAZY things we saw...dingy's stored inside the yacht, lots of wake boards, an inflatable water slide (SO COOL!!!) and even a HELICOPTER on top of a yacht!
Needless to say we felt a little out of our element around all the fancy and expensive boats.
There were a handful of sailboats
The girls relaxing in some of the displays

It was a fun day in the beautiful weather.
The temperature is starting to drop and we are so enjoying being outside without sweating to death.

My thoughts and prayers are with the rest of the East Coast that are now dealing with Hurricane Sandy.

Halloween brownies and hostess gift

This weekend the girls and I went to a fun Halloween
party at a friends house while Daddy was on flight duty.
We made these fun brownies to bring with us.
I used my Pampered Chef brownie pan, it's
like having the corner piece every time!
We love the individual brownies it makes.
The tops always crumbles a little when you frost brownies so I first did a "crumb layer" and then stuck the plate into the freezer for five minutes.  Then frosted on top of the frozen layer, making it much easier and it covers up most of the crumb layer.

I used gel tubes for the red eyes and vampire mouths
I used black gel for the Frankenstein mouths
and left over candy eye balls from my
 Monster cookies earlier this month.
Aren't they fun?

I wanted to give some Halloween goodies
to the hostess so I picked up this Halloween
bucket, funfetti cake, frosting and cupcake
liners at Target and wrapped it in some cellophane.
Mama Hall's blog had this cute and
free printable to attach to the bucket.

Easy Appliqued Pumpkin Shirt

Today I'm sharing my first ever appliqued shirt.
My friend Whitney over at Diary of a Preppy Mom, our hubbies were in flight school together, recently shared a tutorial and free pattern for this cute pumpkin shirt so I gave it a try and I think it turned out pretty cute for my first try.

I recently bought a white t-shirt off the clearance rack at Target for $1.50.
It had a heart pocket on the front but I used my seem ripper to remove it.
I had some "Wonder Under" on hand.  You simply iron the bumpy side of the wonder under  onto the back side of your fabric.  Trace your pattern onto the paper side and cut it out.
My pumpkin and stem using Whitney's pattern
After you cut out your pieces, you carefully remove the backing of the Wonder Under and then your ready to iron it onto the fabric.
All ironed on and sewn around the pattern.
I've never done the zig zag stitch, I'm a little intimidated by it.
I need to just go for it and try it on a scrap of fabric but for now I'm happy with how the straight stitch looks.
Our church has a small pumpkin patch so we took a few pics that past Sunday.  Daddy was on duty so he missed out on being in the pics, will hopefully try again when he can come with us.  Such is the military life :-)
My Girls and I at the pumpkin patch

Little Sis had fun checking out the big pumpkins there.

They even had some photo props set up for us.
I couldn't resist, I thought it was a precious background for the fall.
Check out my friends great blog over at:

Air Station Visit

When I returned home from my relaxing weekend church retreat, we had some family visiting us for the week. We don't have any family here in South Florida with us so we enjoy our family visits! Here are just a few pics from visiting Daddy at the air station.

Women's Retreat

This past weekend I was able to attend my first Women's Church Retreat.
As soon as they announced it I asked my husband to please try to take some time off from work so I could attend. The topic of the weekend was on the following verses from the book of Psalm.

Psalm 1:1-3
Blessed is the man
Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly,
Nor stands in the path of sinners,
Nor who sits in the seat of the scornful;
But his delight is in the law of the Lord,
And in His law he meditates day and night.
He shall be like a tree
Planted by the rivers of water,
That brings forth its fruit in its season,
Whose leaf also shall not wither;
And whatever he does shall prosper.

I wanted to share a few pictures with you from my weekend retreat.
It was a wonderfully relaxing weekend.  My first time ever leaving all three girls overnight for a couple of nights.  Daddy and his girls had some quality time before some family from out of state drove to visit us for the week.
{More pics from the family visit soon}

The retreat was at a lake in Florida where several of the church member's own homes and so graciously opened them up for us to stay in.  When I got to my room I found this purse waiting for me with my paperwork for the weekend, a nice long sleeve t-shirt, and a couple of snacks.

Here are a few pictures of the beautiful lake that we stayed at.
I just loved it there and want to take my family back for some time away!

Good morning from the lake

Saturday morning we spent some time
on the deck before heading down to breakfast.
The Lake was so calm and peaceful.

The food was delcious the whole weekend! The women who spoke were awesome and really spoke from the heart.  To hear these and several other women's testimony's were just heartbreaking and inspiring at the same time.  We had fun, shed tears and bonded closer together.  I'm so happy I got to spend time getting to know many of the women there and look forward to our friendships growing.

I just want to share a couple of things I loved from the speakers:
"Biblical Womanhood is not a job for sissies!"
and
"My family needs to see me seeking to follow
Gods law, they don't need to see me trying to be the perfect woman!"
